Vintage 50s Illustrated Dust Jacket Hardback Books

Two "women's" fictional stories about the lives of both female main characters. Hardback books with beautiful dust jackets. Price is for both books together, sold as a pair. "Anne of the Island" by L.M. Montgomery (1950). Part of the famous Anne Of Green Gables stories; this time the Canadian leading lady goes to college and experiences various joyful and sad moments during her time away. "Pink Sugar" By O. Douglas (1950). Following the life of the main character, Emma, living in post war Scotland; with humour and pathos throughout. Comes with a handmade book protector that's kept the dust jacket very clean for decades (removed for photos). Some cover/page wear and marks, page foxing, a slight musty smell to both & names/writing on the front/back pages. "Anne Of The Island" has some dust jacket spine indents and inside has taped repairs & some watermarks/stains to the jacket's spine, mainly visible on the reverse of the jacket. "Pink Sugar" possibly has the first (likely would have been blank) page missing, or just looks like it where the book cover has come slightly away from the page join. In good condition overall and very much readable....more
